General information

AgenaTrader++ plusplus represents the more advanced versions of AgenaTrader with innovative features for professional trading. This includes semi-automatic setup and trade management components, integrated risk and money management with automatic order sizing, signal scanner and other functions.

The following AgenaTrader++ versions are currently available:

  1. Andromeda

The following sections provide an overview of the various functionalities of AgenaTrader++. Each description can be found within the submenu for the appropriate version. Please consult the product description if you wish to get more information about the content of this version.

AgenaTrader++ strategies and function as well as the scanner only work during regular exchange trading hours which are set in the marketplace escort. Outside this trading hours all AT++ functions are deactivated.

Trading with AgenaTrader++ (plusplus)

When AgenaTrader++ (plusplus) is activated within a list chart group, the following popup will appear:

You will be asked whether you wants to start the AT++ for the current instrument, for several selected instruments from the list or for the whole List Chart Group.

Important points concerning the AgenaTrader ++ (plusplus) setup:

  1. If AT++ (plusplus) is already running for an instrument within a specified time frame (e.g. 5 min.) and you activate AT++ within another time frame (e.g. 10 min.), then the time settings for the strategy will be changed according to the time frame opened most recently (10 min. in this case). This ensures that the strategy and the submitted trade are active within the same time frame.

  2. If a trade for a specific instrument is already running within a particular time frame, then starting a strategy in a different time frame will be denied.

  3. If AgenaTrader++ (plusplus) is started within the chart, then the interval in brackets will show the time frame for a strategy. Thus, you will be able to identify which time frame the stop point will be adjusted to (5 min. in this case).

AgenaTrader++ (plusplus) Resolve Setup

This is one of the essential tools in AT++.

AgenaTrader++ (plusplus) resolve setup works in the following manner:

  • If you have submitted and confirmed orders, AgenaTrader++ strategies will continue to run even when the trading platform is closed.

  • These strategies will be saved within the system.

  • When you start AgenaTrader up again, the strategies will be adjusted to the current market conditions.

If you plan to keep an intraday trade with the AT++ setup overnight, we recommend that you do not turn off AgenaTrader since this can lead to unexpected order behavior. For example, order groups managed by AgenaTrader, such as IfDone and OCO, are often not linked to your broker due to the fact that the majority of brokers do not support these special types of orders. Only having AT opened ensures that all setups and functionalities will remain unchangeable.

If something happens during the time in which AgenaTrader is closed (e.g. filled or cancelled orders, closed trades etc.), stops will be recalculated and positions/setups will be adjusted etc. Obviously, this can be dangerous.

Should this occur, you will receive a recovery popup (see image below) displaying the trades which require your intervention and supervision:

Functions of the buttons in the recovery popup:

  • The Entry Escort button allows you to enter the strategy. NOTE: the Trades tab will display the entry reason.

  • The button Session allows user to select analyzer session

  • The Confirm button applies the suggested actions.

  • Chart area provides you access to all chart function. Details on section Chart Toolbar

If you close the popup without confirmation or get InconsstantState in column Action, you will have to clear the trades manually.

Counter trading

Counter trading is temporarily not available.

Counter Trading On/Off

Activating counter trading enables you to:

  • Place multiple trades for the same instrument in different time frames.

  • Bind each order to a particular time frame. This will lead to higher complexity and will require higher vigilance in monitoring the positions. For example, new trades may be opened in the opposite position by mistake because the target and entry order are placed within different time frames.

Deactivating counter trading:

  • Does not assume that trades and orders will be bound to a specific time frame.

  • Allows automatic application of edited (changed, added, deleted etc.) orders to the current trade irrelevant of the time frame.

  • Allows you to create orders for broker's positions that do not exist in AgenaTrader so that you can edit and modify them.

Activating and deactivating counter trading does not refer to AT++ strategies, since these must always be bound to a specified time frame (since the time frame is required for re-calculation of stops and targets).

AgenaScript

AgenaScript is a programming language integrated into the trading platform AgenaTrader. The syntax of AgenaScript is derived from the programming language C#. Using AgenaScript enables you to implement all strategies, even if they are too complex for the Signal Builder. The spectrum extends from the programming of simple indicators to self-designed applications in which AgenaTrader plays only a supporting role. Practically all approaches that are also applicable in DotNet can be used: complex indicators, signal display, Excel export, evaluation, chart representation, sound, colors and many others.

The AgenaScript help contains the following paragraphs:

1. Trading bars and instruments Describes in detail how to access single bars or candlesticks as well as various trading instruments using AgenaScript.

2. Events AgenaScript is event-oriented. Examples of events:

  • A new candle occurs after the closing of the prior one within a particular time interval;

  • New prices are delivered from your data provider;

  • An order is executed and others

AgenaScript makes it easy for you to react to this information. The purpose of this section is to explain exactly how this works and which events can arise.

3. Indicators and oscillators Provides an extensive description of all indicators integrated in AgenaTrader. An introduction of the instruments is given to start off with, followed by the information about their use. A significant part of this section is devoted to the interpretation of signals, and several references for further information are also provided. Each indicator and oscillator can be used in your own AgenaScript. In this description you can also find the exact syntax, the meaning of parameters and a code example.

4. Programming of strategies AgenaScript allows you to create your own trading strategies and then trade them live on the market. In this paragraph you will find answers to the questions of which requirements are necessary and how to transfer orders to your broker and trade internally.

5. Keywords Like each programming language, AgenaTrader has a set of commands you can use to create your own scripts. You should become familiar with these keywords if you wish to create self-programmed indicators or entire trading systems.

6. Drawing objects All drawing objects that can be used on the chart are also available within AgenaScript. Drawing objects such as lines, arrows, rectangles, circles etc. can be automatically displayed at specified positions or removed from the chart again. Your possibilities are unlimited.

7. Tips and tricks Presents the solutions to unusual problems. In order to understand these complex examples, however, a good deal of programming experience is required. Advanced users can still find some useful information for programming ideas of their own.

Range of functions of the AgenaTrader Notifier Mobile APP

Trading signals

Whether it's scripted or drag & drop conditions from the Signal Builder. When the multi-timeframe and multi-data series scanner discovers one of your signals, starting right now, it is no longer just shown in the scanner, notified via sound or popup or messaged to you by email; it is also displayed in our AgenaTrader Android Smartphone APP.

Order executions

Let's assume your orders are placed in the market. Entry order with a stop loss and two targets. Now you are tensely awaiting the execution of the first order with the entry, and following this, the hopefully positive progression of your trade. As you do so, you are sitting at your PC, stressed out.

Now instead of this, imagine you are sitting comfortably in a hammock or in the deckchair in your garden, balcony or any other cozy spot as you do so, and this information is served to you on a silver platter. That's right - as a notification in the AgenaTrader Notifier Mobile APP. You are informed when the entry is carried out, and then again when targets or stops are reached.

Alerts

Price, time or indicator alerts; you receive all three neatly listed in the AgenaTrader Notifier Mobile APP. Make your decisions via smartphone, and only invest time in front of your trading PC when you deem it necessary. No need to waste any more time on routine checks on your trading PC.

Connection status

Last but no less relevant, we now additionally notify you if the connection to the broker or the data feed is lost. This means that you stay informed of your internet connection quality and can act quickly if the connection bar changes from green to red. This allows you to keep a clear head, freeing you of thoughts such as: "Hopefully the connection is still good and my trading setups are being carried out correctly."

Open the Google Play Store and enter "AgenaTrader Notifier" into the search bar. Select the APP, click on "install" and accept the license conditions. After the download and installation, the APP can be started.

How to connect the APP to AgenaTrader

Open the "Send Device Token" function using the 'triple-dot symbol...' in the upper right edge of the screen. The first field shows the token. This is a key consisting of numbers, symbols and letters. If you do not want to copy this out, then enter your email address (e.g.: [email protected]) in the second field and click on "Send"

Shortly after this, you will find an email in your email inbox with the token. Check the spam folder too if necessary. Now open the Global Configuration in AgenaTrader. In the tree menu, select the alerts and then the Notifier. Once you have briefly clicked on Android and copied the token into the text box by copying and pasting from the email, the connection is activated by clicking on the "Apply" button.

After this, switch to the subcategory "General" in the alerts, and activate the respective notifications there using the five "Mobile" checkboxes. Conclude the procedure by clicking on the OK button.

In the Setup Builder, you then also select which signals a notification should be sent for, and to do so, you select the entry signal in the parameter settings, and set the option "SendSignalMobileNotification" to true.

As of now, support requests can only be sent via this function in the AgenaTrader platform. Only for the - extremely rare - case that the platform cannot be restarted, we set up an emergency contact address on our website, through which the support team can be reached in these exceptional cases.

Report errors

Finding errors

It is likely that you have already had a few problems with AgenaTrader. We kindly ask you NOT to immediately send an email directly to the support. Our technical support team is responsible for system errors or technical shortcoming of our software only and therefore cannot provide individual tutoring or answer requests regarding settings or the handling of the software. This can result in longer support and response periods and might affect you one day as well.

In general, the majority of problems are caused by users themselves. Please do not feel insulted by this - our developers also often have to admit that they are the cause of a problem, not the software.

If problems arise...

...or something does not work as expected, please follow our recommendations:

  1. First try to ensure that you have updated your program to the latest version as is described in the release notes.

  2. We kindly ask you to look for the answers to your question in our online media (tips and information about how to help yourself you can read in this article)

  3. If you still have other questions regarding the software, please refer to our TradersYard forum.

  4. Only after this should you contact the support team.

Sometimes it´s not that easy to rate whether the issue is a technical problem or simply some wrong settings. Here are some hints about the priority states (the following support times are valid during regular office hours from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm CET):

Highest priority average response time: 2 hours: You have problems with submitting an order to the broker or with the order execution and are no able to trade anymore. The order or position state is different to the reference platform of the broker. You receive a trading critical system error in the protocol (red). In 9 of 10 cases you will find help in our FAQ. Regular priority average response time: 6 hours: All settings are set correctly but you still do not receive market data. The data shown in AgenaTrader is different to the data show in the reference platform (broker, datafeed). In 9 of 10 cases you will find help in our FAQ Low priority average response time: 24 hours: You experience a discrepancy in an AgenaTrader feature, but it does not affect trading or data analysis. In 9 of 10 cases you will find help in our FAQ Questions about how to use AgenaTrader: Average questions about how to use AgenaTrader are not part of the regular support. We try to answer them in exceptional cases but cannot provide any guaranteed support times. Please do you research in our online media which are available 24/7.

How to request technical support:

For this purpose please click on the little arrow next to "Support" in the ToolBar and choose "Create Sales/Support Ticket" in the dropdown-menu. Now choose the appropriate category and subcategory, add a detailed description of your request, and attach screenshots.

Further communication with the support team will then happen via email. Regarding this, we would like to point out that in any case a new ticket must be created for new requests, inquiries or technical problems, as this is the only way to ensure smooth and complete processing.

To get even faster response in case of technical problems, our users now have the opportunity to contact our technicians, as all English requests will go directly to the responsible department. You will receive an answer – especially if there are technical problems – as soon as there is a solution or feedback from the technical department.

We are aware that sometimes this requires a bit of patience, our team always strives for a speedy solution, but investigating and solving a technical problem including final testing takes a lot of diligence and can sometimes take a little time.

You will surely understand that multiple queries do not lead to a quicker solution, but on the contrary can often lead to further delays due to the processing effort, since your ticket is forwarded to the test department and therefore not visible to the support team. We want to prevent tickets from being pushed back and forth between departments during this sensitive period, which in turn would cause delays in dealing with the problem and finding a solution. Therefore, in the interest of speedy processing, we ask you to refrain from following up on this ticket or opening a new ticket for the same issue. Please do so only in really urgent cases (essential information relevant to the solution). Thank you for your understanding!

Unhandled Exception (Error report to the support)

Should an internal error occur, AgenaTrader will display a popup in which you can see the so-called stack trace and recognize where this error has occurred. This information is very important for us to stabilize AgenaTrader. If you receive such a popup, please submit this information to us by clicking the Send Error button. We will subsequently receive an email with the stack trace information. You will not receive any response from our support team. In case a bug is detected, it will most likely be fixed in one of the next updates.

Important!

You have reached XX% of your RAM memory. If possible, please close any memory-intensive applications or modify your AgenaTrader workspace by closing some List/Tab Chart Groups, Analyzer Columns, etc.

Check for updates - Hotfix

As soon as a new version of AgenaTrader becomes available, you will receive a message with the download link. The changes made in new versions are presented in the release notes.

If user click No button he may choose Install updates Later or Skip current Version.

Please note: our team cannot support issues that occur in an outdated version.

When you click the Yes button AgenaTrader propose you to backup your entire system. Details in Backup section:

After user skip or launch backup the updated version will be downloaded (this takes 1-2 minutes). When it is finished, the setup will be started automatically as soon as you close AgenaTrader.

Hotfix Hotfix is basically the same as an update. Once hotfix is available, you will be informed of this after restarting the system. The function of hotfix is primarily to correct bugs in the latest version, not to provide you with new functionalities.
